OceanLaw completes work on first European Commission Framework Contract on Fisheries Partnership Agreements

12 May 07

OceanLaw has concluded its work on the first European Commission Framework Contract on European Fisheries Partnership Agreements (2003-2006) and has already begun its work on the Second Framework contract (2006-2009) (see News Release 2006/3).

OceanLaw consultants participated in evaluations of several third country fisheries sectors (the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland and Norway) with a view to evaluating existing fisheries agreements and assessing needs for future fisheries partnership agreements. The contract, led by an international consortium of leading fisheries consultancy firms - MegaPesca (Portugal), Océanic Developpement (France) and Poseidon (UK) - ran over three years, with a budget of over €1 million, and provided strategic advice to the European Commission. The results of the evaluations are confidential.
