European fisheries law projects
Ocean Law is currently engaged in a number of projects concerning
EU fisheries law.
1. European Union Fisheries Law (Oxford University Press)
Ocean Law Director, Chris Hedley,
has been commissioned by Oxford
University Press to write a practitioner textbook on EU
Fisheries Law, which will also form a corresponding contribution to
a major loose-leaf publication on EU law. The book is scheduled for publication in
2009. Further information on the project is contained in
News Release 2007/1.
2. European Union International Fisheries Agreements
Ocean Law is currently undertaking a major study of the EU's
international fisheries agreements, providing an analysis of the
history and development of the EU's bilateral fisheries relations
and an analysis of the current fisheries partnership agreements in
light of fisheries management, environmental and development
objectives. The research is expected to lead to several
publications, including a book which is expected to be completed in 2009/2010.
3. European Commission Framework Contract on FPAs
Ocean Law is participating, as part of an international consortium
led by MegaPesca (Portugal)
and Oceanic Développement (France),
in a European Commission Framework Contract to evaluate its
fisheries partnership agreements (FPAs) with third countries and
examine other international fisheries issues. For more information,
see Ocean Law's News Releases on the project:
2006/3 -
2007/6.
