International Fisheries Agreements
International Fisheries Agreements is a new reference publication
being developed by OceanLaw to be launched in 2008. It will consist
of two print volumes and an online volume which together will
provide a detailed reference work on all major fisheries agreements.
Volume 1 (Print): Multilateral Fisheries Agreements
Volume 2 (Print): Bilateral Fisheries Agreements
Online: International Fisheries Agreements Online
Volume 1 will provide detailed profiles of over
120 multilateral agreements and instruments concerning fisheries,
the conservation and management of marine living resources and
fisheries trade and development. It is due to be published in
September/October 2008, and will consist of over 450pp of text.
Volume 2 will provide an overview of the
international law applicable to bilateral fisheries relations and
provide an analysis of the practice of major State players
(including the EU) in organizing their bilateral fisheries relations
(the analysis being organized by type of agreement). The Volume,
which is a collaborative project between a team of international
researchers,
covers fisheries access agreements (both reciprocal and
non-reciprocal), shared stock agreements, enforcement cooperation
agreements and development cooperation agreements. It is due to be
published in September/October 2009, and is expected to consist of
over 500pp of text.
The Online volume is an online version of Volume
1, providing individual online profiles of each of the
agreements, together with more basic summary profiles of each
instrument and regularly updated status information. The first phase
of the online
version will be launched to coincide with the launch of IFLPP in May
2008, with the remainder being launched with Volume 1 in
September/October 2008.
