Internet Guide to International Fisheries Law
The Internet Guide to International Fisheries Law (IGIFL -
www.intfish.net) is a major
research reference resource in international fisheries law, first
developed by Ocean Law in 1999. It provides access to documentation
and information on international fisheries agreements, international
and national case law, international fisheries organizations and
research materials on international fisheries law (consisting of
approximately 85% documentary materials and 15% original text).
The first version of the website consisted of approximately 500
pages, but this has been gradually extended and since 2006 Ocean Law
has been working on the most substantial overhaul yet of IGIFL. This
will result in the launching, in May 2008, of a new
version containing approximately 6000 documents/pages, making IGIFL
one of the largest free online collections of international legal
information on any subject.
IGIFL is now widely recognized as one of the leading resources in
the field and is used extensively by professionals, academics,
students, consultants and governmental, inter-governmental and
non-governmental officials from a wide range of legal, scientific
and policy backgrounds (with average monthly statistics of over 10,000
users and approximately 30,000 individual visits).
