Ocean Law Online Papers
Ocean Law Project (2001-2007)

Ocean Law Online Papers was an occasional papers series which ran for more than 6 years. It contains over 50 papers on subjects relating to the law of the sea, with a primary focus on international fisheries law. The collection will be archived on the International Fisheries Law and Policy Portal website.

International Law and Deep Sea Fisheries
FAO, NZ Ministry of Fisheries, World Fisheries Congress (2003)

In 2003, Ocean Law Director Chris Hedley was invited to participate in two international conferences on deep sea fishing: the World Conference on Deep Sea Fisheries, Vigo, Spain in September 2003 (organized as part of the World Fisheries Congress 2003) and Deep Sea 2003, organized by the New Zealand Ministry of Fisheries and FAO in December 2003. At the Vigo Conference, Chris participated on the discussion panel which helped to formulate the Declaration of Vigo.

International Fisheries Bulletin
Ocean Law Project (2001-2002)

International Fisheries Bulletin was an electronic publication focussing on current developments in international fisheries law and containing articles, news, reviews and announcements. The collection will be archived on the International Fisheries Law and Policy Portal website.

International Whaling Commission - Special Reports
Ocean Law Project (2001-2002)

In 2001 and 2002, Ocean Law published "micro-sites" and carried out supplementary research to accompany the annual meeting in each year of the International Whaling Commission. The sites included 15 articles and reports on the meetings and associated issues, and also provided detailed analysis of each meeting. United Nations Fish Stocks Agreement
Ocean Law Project (2001-2002)

During 2001 and 2002, Ocean Law developed another "micro-site" to provide information and guidance on the UN Fish Stocks Agreement following its entry into force in 2001. The site includes a commentary on entry into force, a guide to the Agreement and various other documentation and information relating to its entry into force.

International Relations and the Common Fisheries Policy
EC (FAIR Programme, Concerted Action) (1999-2000)

Ocean Law participated in part of the European Union's Concerted Action Workshop series on Perspectives for the Future Economic Management of Europe's Fisheries. Ocean Law's contribution related to the Fourth Workshop, on international fisheries relations. Chris Hedley's paper, presented at the workshop, can be downloaded from the link below.

Law of the Sea Information and the Internet
Ocean Law Project (1999-2000)

Ocean Law carried out various research during 1999 and 2000 to identify legal sources on the internet concerning the law of the sea, with special reference to fisheries issues. The research led to 2 major outputs: the IGIFL Internet Pathfinder, a collection of more than 4000 links on international and national fisheries law and management (now archived on the IGIFL website - click here to view) and an article on the Law of the Sea and the Internet, published in the International Journal of Marine and Coastal Law (click here to view article).
