Objectives
The general objective of the Arrangement is to ensure sustained conservation of living marine resources both within and beyond the exclusive economic zone. The specific objective of the Arrangement is to establish a system for limiting the level of purse seine fishing, in particular by distant-water fishing vessels, in the Arrangement Area.
Scope
- Material
All species of tuna and tuna-like species taken by purse seine vessels in the Arrangement Area.
- Geographic
The exclusive economic zones or fisheries zones of the parties including adjacent high seas areas in the Western Pacific within which purse seine vessels operate.
Organizational structure
The parties meet annually through a "Management Meeting" and the Forum Fisheries Agency provides assistance in implementing the arrangement.
