Summary of provisions

Objectives

The objective of the Convention is to promote cooperation between the parties in order to gain the maximum profit from their fisheries resources by establishing common minimum standards for access to their fisheries zones.

Scope

 - Legal

The Convention applies to all fisheries within the waters of the parties to the Convention.

 - Geographic

The waters under the fisheries jurisdiction of members of the Sub-Regional Commission on Fisheries.

Organizational structure

The Sub-Regional Commission on Fisheries, through its Conference of Ministers, is given certain supervisory roles and in practice performs certain administrative functions.
